Exploring Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge!
As promised, here are some photos of our trip to San Francisco. The first day was hard as our jet lag was terrible. “Jet Lag” is when you are tired because of the time difference when you fly between two countries. We had coffee and bagels for breakfast, with turkey sausage and cheddar cheese from a place called Noah’s Bagels. It was funny, on the radio was a song by a singer called Duffy. She is from South Wales, where I’m from! The sun was shining and there was a fresh, cool breeze. Perfect for walking and exploring the city.
I was amazed by how friendly all the people were. They are so friendly and polite and even the homeless people on the street smile and ask you “How are you today, sir? Have a nice day!” It’s refreshing!
We walked along the sea front and watched all the people buying their breakfast from the street venders. One thing which is clear about San Francisco, it’s all about fresh, quality food. My kind of place!
We followed the map through China town, which linked the hilly streets and cable car trams, enjoying the sun on our back. We’d spent the day before either on a plane or at an airport so it was nice to stretch our legs and be outdoors. Beyond China town, was a lookout point called Coit Tower. A big tower, elevated up high with 360 degree views across the city and ocean. From here we could see the Golden Gate Bridge and the world famous Alcatraz prison. I think, without doubt, this is the most famous prison in the world and center of many prison break movies.
Today we are renting a car and driving north to Napa Valley. Our friend is getting married in two days and we are excited to explore some more. Let’s just hope I can manage driving on the opposite side of the road!
