4 Dinner Time English Phrasal Verbs and English Idioms

1. Pig Out : To eat alot and eat it quickly.

Example of Pig Out = I need to go to the gym because yesterday I pigged out. I ate ice-cream, chocolate, pizza which is all very unhealthy!

2. Dig In/Tuck In: A command to start eating.

Example of Dig In/Tuck In = “OK everybody, dinner is on the table. Dig In/Tuck in!”

3. Eat Out/In:
If you eat out, you eat at a restaurant or a cafe etc. If you eat in, you eat at home.

Example of Eat Out and Eat In = I don’t feel like cooking tonight so let’s go to a restaurant and eat out!

I don’t have enough money to eat out this weekend so I’m going to make a beautiful home made meal and we can eat in.

4. Fill Up:
If your glass of milk is empty, you fill it up with more.

Example of Fill Up = I would love some wine with my dinner, please fill up my glass, Sylvia!
