There are only 2 more days of 2011 and we are still feeling like we are ready to explode after eating so much over the Christmas period. My stomach has grown but I still can’t stop eating. I think it’s expanded! Too many beers and too many different cakes and chocolates! It’s been fun though, and great to see all my family and friends.
But now, it’s time to look forward to a new year and think about what we want to achieve in 2012. It’s no surprise that the first thing we normally want to do, is get fit and healthy!
How do British people celebrate New Year’s Eve?
You would think that after all the eating and drinking we do over Christmas, we wouldn’t want to eat more! But we do! New Year’s Eve is all about eating good food and drinking expensive Champagne with your friends! Normally we meet at a friends house as it can be very expensive to go to bars or clubs for New Year’s Eve, as they charge a fee to let you in. Traditionally, my friends and I meet up at around 8pm and have something to eat and a drink. We watch a special TV show called: The JOOLS’ HOLLAND HOOTENANNY, which is a live music show. As we count down the last 10 seconds of the year, we stand in a circle and hold hands and then cheer! At midnight on NYE, we wish everybody good luck for the new year and continue to party and launch fireworks. It’s an exciting time!
New Year’s Resolutions
An important part of New Year’s Eve is making plans for the New Year. This normally includes things we want to do more of, and other things which we want to do less of. For example, in 2012, I want to drink less coffee and drink more water.
My New Year’s Resolutions for 2012
1. I want to do more exercise and spend more time cycling.
2. I want to improve my Spanish.
3. I want to save enough money to travel somewhere really special.
4. I want to play my guitar more.
5. I want to continue helping you learn English! 🙂
