10 Adjectives to Use When Describing People in English

Describing people in English is fun and diverse and there are many unique adjectives to use. Here is a selection of my favourite English adjectives – I hope you find them helpful!

Messi is a fearless football player! He has so much confidence!

Describing People in English

1. Good Looking/Handsome = Guapa/Guapa

e.g. John is very good looking, I think he is the most handsome person in the school!

2. Absent Minded

e.g. My father is so absent minded. Yesterday he forgot to pick me up from school! I had to walk home in the rain and I was very upset.

3. Attentive

e.g. My favourite restaurant is called “Los Toreros”. I like it because the waiters are very attentive, they take care of their customers very well and make sure there is always wine on the table.

4. Middle-Aged = de Media Edad

e.g. Jordi is sad because today is his 45th birthday. He says that he doesn’t want to be middle-aged. He wants to be young!

5. Cheerful

e.g. It is really fun to spend time with Ana. She is so happy and cheerful all the time. She makes me feel positive and happy about life!

6. Dull

e.g. I really don’t like my history teacher. He is so dull and boring. His stories are dull, his voice is dull and his personality is dull.

7. Fearless

e.g. I wish I was more like Cecilia. She is so fearless, nothing scares her! If I were fearless I would feel more confident in social situation. That would make me happy.

8. Kind-Hearted

e.g. I love my grandmother. She is so kind-hearted. She always does nice things for me!

9. Silly

e.g. Juan is so silly, he always makes jokes and plays silly games. He should try to be more serious in class or he will never do well in his exams!

10. Witty

e.g. My English teacher is very witty. He always make clever jokes and intelligent remarks

Shakira is a very exciting performer. Her performances are never dull!
Javier Bardem is very kind-hearted, friendly and generous. Penelope Cruz is very good looking, so is Javier!
