1. The Apple of Your Eye
If a person is the “apple of your eye”, it means that they are a very important person in your life.
e.g. My son is the most important person in my life. He is the apple of my eye.
2. That Takes The Biscuit!
If something “takes the biscuit” it is really really annoying!
e.g. The staff at the new Irish pub in Barcelona were really taking the biscuit yesterday. I waited 35 minutes to be served!
3. The Icing on the Cake
When a good situation is made even better because of something extra.
e.g. I got my dream job working as a travel writer, and the icing on the cake is that I get free holidays for all of my friends and family!
4. To Be Cheesed Off
If you are “cheesed off” then you are very unhappy, frustrated or angry about something.
e.g. I’m really cheesed off today, my brother took my car and crashed it into a lamp post!
5. A Piece of Cake
When you think something is really easy you can say that it is a “piece of cake”.
e.g. I always thought that English was difficult, but now that I have such a great teacher I think it’s a piece of cake!
