WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES, by Paula Espuelas

WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES – mistakes, sorry for the misspelling. Have you ever wondered why do pencils have a rubber stuck to the end? How we progress and evolve? Why we know about the world as much as we do?

Once upon a time there was a perfect world where everyone always did the right thing in the right way. Nothing unexpected ever happened. Nothing new was ever discovered. And they lived happily ever after in that static world that was exactly the same way as it was at the beginning. Boringly perfect.

Humankind, on the other hand, is far from perfection. Sometimes we do things in the incorrect way. And that’s the reason why we evolve and become better (in our own imperfect way). Finding America was a mistake. Discovering penicillin was a mistake. Our history is full of mistakes we could have easily avoided. But we didn’t. And those mistakes have become a big part of what we’ve become.

So maybe we should stop being so afraid about making mistakes and choosing the wrong option, because that’s the way we are. Imperfect. But in the end those mistakes made us who we are today, and that’s not a mistake at all.
